Poetry by

Maningning Miclat

Before anything else I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the Buencamino family for the loss of their daughter, sister Julia who passed away last July 7, 2015. Julia is herself an actress in ABS CBN’s Oh My G! An outpouring of love and support has been shown from the cast and fans online.

I was able to photograph her along with parents Nonie & Shamaine Buencamino last May 30, 2015. It was for the Ginugunita Kita concert where composer Jesse Lucas set the poetry of Maningning Miclat to music. The family came out in support of Delphine Beuncamino who performed a dance accompaniment to one of the poems. The photos here are from that night. Maningning Miclat’s poems: Ginigunita Kita and Ginugunita Kita #2 are fitting farewell, included here.

GINUGUNITA KITA

ni Maningning Miclat

Marikit na tala ang tanglaw sa dilim,

Sa halimuyak ng matamis na hangin,

Sa gubat ng gabi ay hinihintay ko,

Mga kislap ng nilimot na pangako.

Habang may hapdi ang sugat ng kahapon,

Di maalpasan ang diwang nakakahon,

Inaawit ang kundiman ng pagsinta

Sa dalamhati ng pusong umaasa.

Ginuguni-gunita kita,

Binubuo sa alaala.

Pinapanga-pangarap ka,

Inuukit sa haraya.
